Fort Morgan

Completed in 1834, Fort Morgan was built to guard the mouth of Mobile Bay. It played a key role in the Civil War, remaining under Confederate control until August 1864, when it was captured by Union forces under Admiral David Farragut. Now operated by the Alabama Historical Commission, it's open daily to visitors. Candlelight tours and re-enactments, held seasonally, help bring the fort's history back to life.
