Second Annual Serve2Cure Set for October 6
Participants in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s Serve2Cure Tennis Tournament can have the satisfaction of knowing they’re having fun for a good cause. Proceeds from the annual event, held this year on Saturday, October 6, will go to patients in the breast cancer program at Sacred Heart Hospital. The hospital’s oncology department is the only one on Florida’s Emerald Coast that accepts non-insured patients. “The passion of the tennis staff combined with loyal guests and members and the local community make this a winning cause and effort,” said Todd Hanson, director of Sandestin Tennis. “We are playing for our mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, wives, best friends, and neighbors.” The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. with the Breakfast of Champions and runs through 2 p.m. Other activities include the Fastest Serve Contest, men’s and women’s round robin tournament play, a silent auction, lunch at Graffiti’s, prizes, and music. The cost to participate in the tournament is $100 per person. Those who don’t want to play tennis can attend for $30 (cost includes breakfast, auction, prizes, and lunch). Last year, Serve2Cure raised $15,500. Voted one of the top tennis resorts in the United States by Tennis Magazine, the Sandestin Tennis Center at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort offers private and group lessons, group packages, junior programs, ladies team challenges, high-performance training for juniors, equipment rental, round-robin play, and weekly clinics.
