Races Raise Funds for Habitat Homes
Helping Habitat for Humanity provide affordable housing for families in Walton County is the goal of the second annual Habitrot for Humanity Half Marathon and 5K, hosted by Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Routes for the two races, scheduled for Saturday, October 6, will wind throughout the 2,400-acre resort. That means participants will enjoy views of the beaches, Gulf, bay, and golf courses that have made Sandestin such a popular vacation destination. Both races start and end at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s Baytowne Marina. Packet pick-up and a pre-race party at Baytowne Marina are scheduled for Friday, October 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. Race day packet pick-up starts at 6 a.m. The Half Marathon begins at 7 a.m. and the 5K run at 7:30 a.m. Runners will also enjoy unlimited Miller Lite, red beans and rice courtesy of Stinky’s Fish Camp and Blue Mountain Catering, a DJ and music from Exquisite Entertainment, Habitat T-shirts designed by Source27, goodie bags filled with sponsor items, photography by Image 30A, doughnuts and fruit furnished by Wal-Mart, and a free five-minute massage by Florida Sports Massage Association. There will be raffle prizes, door prizes, and a silent auction to benefit Habitat for Humanity. For more information or to sign up, visit www.sandestin.com or call 1-866-912-3224.
