Orman House Historic State Park

This antebelum home overlooking the Apalachicola River was built in 1838 by cotton merchant Thomas Orman. Orman helped turn the then-tiny town into one of the Gulf Coast's most important cotton exporting ports during the mid-1900s. Today the house, which features wooden mantels, molded plaster cornices, and heart-pine flooring, is open for tours. Nearby is the Chapman Botanical Garden.
