Located on the grounds of the former home of Marie and William Selby (of Texaco Oil Company), the 15-acre Marie Selby Botanical Gardens property features thousands of tropical plants. These are the only botanical gardens in the world dedicated to epiphytes (orchids and bromeliads). The bayfront property is made up of a series of small, themed gardens, including a Children’s Rainforest. Mrs. Selby bequeathed the gardens to the public in 1975.
